Frequent Asked Question (FAQ)

What is Carbon Emissions?

Carbon emissions are gases released into the atmosphere due to activities like burning fossil fuels. These emissions contribute to climate change by trapping heat from the sun, causing global warming and environmental problems. Reducing carbon emissions involves using renewable energy sources, electric cars, and planting trees to absorb carbon.

What is Carbon Footprint?

Carbon footprint is the total greenhouse gases released due to our activities, including production of goods and services. It depends on where we live, how we travel, we eat, and how much we use. Knowing our carbon footprint helps us understand our contribution to climate change and reduce it by making lifestyle changes or offsetting emissions

What is Carbon Neutral Events?

Carbon neutral events aim for a net zero carbon footprint by reducing greenhouse gases and investing in projects that remove or reduce emissions. This involves using renewable energy, encouraging public transportation, sourcing locally, and investing in projects like planting trees or renewable energy. It's a way event organizers to take responsibility for their environmental impact and contribute to larger efforts to combat climate change.

What is Carbon Offset?

Carbon offset compensates for greenhouse gases we release by investing in projects that reduce greenhouse gases elsewhere. It not a solution to climate change on its own, but a tool to balance emissions. The ultimate goal is to reduce emissions as much as possible and use carbon offsetting to balance out the rest.

What is Carbon Credit?

Carbon credits are a means of compensating for the release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Companies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, such as by planting trees generating clean energy, earn carbon credits. These credits can then be sold to other companies that have activities that release greenhouse gases, allowing them to offset their own emissions. While credits incentivize companies to reduce their emissions, they are not a standalone solution to climate change and should be used in conjunction with emission reduction efforts.

What is CO2e?

CO2e is a unit for measuring carbon footprints. It compares the impact of different greenhouse gases to the amount of CO2 that would create the same warming effect. Each gas has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) that measures how much heat it traps compared to CO2. CO2e helps measure and compare emissions from different gases to reduce their impact on the climate.

What is Greenhouse Gas (GHG)?

Greenhouse gases are atmospheric gases that trap heat from the sun, warming the Earth's surface. The most important greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide, methane, and water vapor. These are released into the atmosphere various natural and human activities, and high concentrations of these gases lead to global warming, causing climate changes. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions is an important of efforts to mitigate climate change and its impacts.
